_____________ROMAN ROAD MEDIACONCHA___________

This is the only route marked in this guide (GR-73. Causeway Blendios), and can enconrtar documentation on it on other websites. The included here because of its significance and because it fits perfectly with the spirit of the Rincon de Besaya. It is a journey that requires combination of vehicles if done the descent (although not essential if done from the bottom up). It runs along the best preserved (not the only one in the region) of the Roman road that accessed the coast from the interior. The scenery is varied and beautiful, and if we add the absence of significant difficulties and spectacle of the stale slabs, has enough sights to be one of the classics of the region, suitable for all ages (*).

______________________________DETAILED DESCRIPTION______________________________

At kilometer 150 of the N611 is the turning Pesquera. Already at the entrance of the village there is a sign indicating access to Mediaconcha Roman road, follow the signs to the end, to the chapel of Somaconcha. The car we left in the parking lot of the little church, near a beautiful hill overlooking vast pastures. A little later there is a banner that this represented the route, you just have to follow the path to the end, down in Pie de Concha.

To leave the car at the end of the route will go to the kilometer 156 of the N611, and get out of the wagon to Bárcena national standing of Concha, a town famous for its large collection of traditional architecture, it certainly is worth a visit just for that. We drive along the main road towards foot shell, which is practically attached to the separated only by a bridge over the Besaya, we crossed. Once in Pie de Concha it will travel the same road leading to almost exit the village. The route ends in a very discreet caminejo coming to this street on the left side, so it simply a place that does not bother anyone to leave the car.

The route starts in the parking lot there in the chapel of Somaconcha, we will follow the track for the drive we came within a few meters until we came upon the banner of description of the road. We follow the walkway between gorse and brambles until suddenly goes into a thick forest: fresh, green, wet, shady and lovely. The road descends abruptly with a revolt until immediately found the first slabs. Take care all the way to slip Medicaconcha because much, it should be noted that there is high humidity and the stones are very smooth from use. The combination of fescor, views and atmosphere of the place, make the place is very nice, and almost without noticing it is at odds with Mediacocha, semi-abandoned village with a special charm. The route continues to fall gently, now among ferns, gorse and brañas, with some oak in the path of the road, often with stale slabs underfoot. The scenery is always beautiful, and the views are combined, the gentle breeze, the shade of the trees that mark the path and walking perfectly. It passes over the railway by a bridge and continues to decline in a serene and peaceful continuity to quite down, and near Pie de Concha. That's when our path and the stones give a turn to the northwest and start to decline more sharply, with more shadows around us, and are farms and meadows behind the hedges, walls and trees in an idyllic landscape. We're almost to the town, and end of the route. Altogether a walk of just under 6km, we should not take more than 2 hours to travel (with children can something more, depending on the capacity of each one).
