The Monte Hijedo is surely the forest continues throughout Cantabria grade, and in the past must have been much more extensive than at present, although it is encouraging to see the enormous capacity for regeneration is proving to reoccupy the oak which was his site. This route goes into the heart of the living remnant of the past.

A few meters before reaching Riopanero, a compliment to the left is a track where noted Monte Hijedo, continuing her 1300m we reached a small parking lot where we leave the car.

Once parked the car continue on the track that goes straight into the thick oak. Descends gently to the confluence of the stream of Hijedo (left) with Brena (right), where a small shelter. At that point we continue to the left, through an excellent track progresses into the woods, always parallel to the stream. We left some contributions (mostly on the left side), until the road veers to the northwest and a compliment to the left up the track between turns away definitely a channel and ascends in a beautiful landscape to Hijedo Shack, really spot brañas charming and surrounded by forest, with spectacular views of the valley through which we have come.
