_____BEECH FOREST OF PUERTO DE CARRALES_____

The N-623, the 78.5 kilometer exceeds Carrales port. On its northern side, to the west of the road, there is a hidden and lonely majestic beech forest. Few, very few people travels those roads, if anything looking mushrooms, whose collection is regulated. The route leaves the forest looking lost and forget the hustle and bustle, and disappear into their corners.

Shortly before Carrales port, at kilometer 78.5 of the N-623, there is a left turn if coming from Santander, leading to Soncillo. Right there you can leave the car. The route begins on the other side of the road, on the right as you climb the harbor.

Once on the track does not have to do anything but walk slowly, enjoying all that the forest provides the walker. The road, which they call the Bajera Calleja, descends gently to Quintanilla de San Román, along 4km of travel. It is recommended even off the road and find the right one is invented at every turn, there is no risk of getting lost but there is always the chance of finding a little himself.
