COLLEGIATE CURCH OF ST. PETER CERVATOS

Few Romanesque buildings in Cantabria are so popular and so striking as Cervatos visitors. It fits well in an area like the southern part of the Cantabrian coast, where the historical circumstances were very favorable in the centuries of the Roman city. No wonder then, that this gem will not be alone, otherwise very good company in the region, both as a rural Romanesque building a set of excellent workmanship and historical importance.

Cervatos is known for the curious corbels game in which the main theme is sin, and more specifically the sexual connotation. But if you look closely the visitor both outside and inside (especially the apse) also find many other elements that make this temple a place for enjoyment.

To reach Cervatos have to take an exit at kilometer 133 of the A67 towards Matamorosa. Nothing but leaving the motorway, and well before reaching the village there is a roundabout why we go out and move parallel to the highway, until you reach a roundabout where the old grabs national N-611 towards Palencia. A little over 3 km this Cervatos and churches.
